MARINE TERRACE

  • The California coast holds off the waves with strong walls of sedimentary rock. Their countless layers imperceptibly shift from the water and its own weight. Above the rocks are sloping landforms, marine terraces, that are lifted above sea level due to tectonic shifts or changes in sea level. To walk on MARINE TERRACE is to feel the strength of the wool and the softness of watery silk, both densely knotted in high and low, intricately carved piles. The waves and movements are rendered in rich coastal colors.

  • Silk and wool, two pile heights scattered throughout. 150 knots, hand-knotted in Nepal.

  • Colorways are named for California seabirds.
